Leap design (1).jpg
a leap through the arts

Since the ALC Festival regroups multiple types of art through the different profiles, I decided to represent the word 'leap' (the theme of the festival) with these different art forms.

The 'L' is inspired by music, and represents a treble clef. As a hidden meaning with my class, everyone added something related to music in some way, and so it also works as my chosen musical element.

The 'E' is a clapperboard, and represents the cinema and communications profile.

The 'A' is a paintbrush and a paint palette, representing the visual arts.

The 'P' is a book, representing literature. The title of the book, written on the spine, is 'Faith', which I intended as a nod to the theme chosen in class.

Since the word leap is indicator of movement to me, I decided to have the illustration be dynamic and represent in a way the motion of leaping. This is why the 'P' is leaping off the rest of the word. The yellow lines help to connect the word together as well as add energy.

As for the color choice, I thought the blue and the yellow went well together and were also bright enough to attract attention without taking away from the 'leap'. The slogan is in black since it is the least important information, and so does not need to be as flashy. The information (top and bottom of the poster) are in white since I wanted them to stand out more than the slogan, but also because it was a nice contrast to the background and went well with the letters in 'leap'.
